About me
Lashauntya Moore serves as the Friends Corps Director at Friends of Anacostia Park. She has devoted her career to environmental protection and conservation of parks and public lands. Lashauntya grew up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Washington DC. As a single mom of two, Lashauntya became an AmeriCorps member at Earth Conservation Corps, a DC-based environmental organization. While completing her two AmeriCorps terms, she earned her GED and worked on projects that included cleaning up the polluted Anacostia River, restoring the bald eagle’s habitat and building a river walk around the Anacostia so others could enjoy this natural resource. Lashauntya was asked to join Earth Conservation Corps’ staff as a Site Manager and was later promoted to Youth Program Coordinator. She then worked for The Corps Network as a fellow in Education and Workforce Development department and as Technical Assistance Coordinator before starting her current position at Friends of Anacostia Park.
