Dr. Tuggles prominent career began in 1979 at the National Health Research Center in Madison, Wisconsin. Since then, he has held key leadership positions within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), including a wide variety of field experience and time in the agency&. Washington, D.C. headquarters. He served as the Service. Regional Director for the Southwest Region from 2005-2017 before serving as the Assistant Director for Science Applications at USFWS until his retirement. Dr. Tuggle is actively involved with the Tuggle Scholars at UTSA, who benefit from his expertise, networks and knowledge.
